IEEE Standard for a Precision Clock Synchronization Protocol for Networked Measurement and Control Systems
This eLearning module provides an introduction to IEEE Standard 1588. The basic elements of timekeeping and establishing a system-wide timescale in a distributed system are described as well as the most common options for implementing such a timescale. Examples of current applications of IEEE 1588 are presented to illustrate how system-wide timescales are being used.
